Quaid’s 132nd birth anniversary observed

KARACHI: Glowing tributes were paid to Quaid-i-Azam Mohammed Ali Jinnah on the occasion of his 132nd birth anniversary celebrated across the country with the pledge that his principles will be strictly adhered to.

Special programes were arranged in all the cities, towns and villages of the country as well as in Islamabad, Karachi and Lahore.

In Karachi, the day started with ‘Quran Khawani’ at the Quaid’s Mazar following by mounting of Guard at the Quaid’s Mazar by a smartly turned out contingent of the Gentlemen Cadets from Pakistan Military Academy, Kakul.

The Pakistan Military Academy, Kakul, has the singular honour of being the only military institution designated as “Quaid-i-Azam’s Own”

by the Father of the Nation himself. He was the first and the only Colonel-in-Chief of the Academy.

Since, the Day was declared a public holiday by the government, all public and private institutions remained closed and the national flag hoisted at principal government buildings.

Acting Governor of Sindh, Nisar Ahmed Khuhro and Chief Minister, Syed Qaim Ali Shah, along with cabinet Ministers, Advisors, Special Assistants and PPP leaders visited the mausoleum of Quaid-i-Azam in the morning, laid wreaths and offered Fateha.

City Nazim Mustafa Kamal, representing the citizens of Karachi, laid wreath at the Quaid’s Mazar.

The Deputy DG Pakistan Rangers (Sindh) Brig Mohammed Latif, visited the Quaid’s Mazar to pay homage to founder of Pakistan.

At the Mazar he was received by smartly turned out contingent of Pakistan Navy.

Thereafter the doors of the Quaid’s Mausoleum were flung open and a large number of people from various walks of life, including men, women and children drawing from all parts of the city poured in at the Mazar to pay homage to Quaid-i-Azam for carving out a separate homeland for them where they could order the lives in accordance with the dictates of Islam.

The Principal, teachers and students of Quaid’s alma mater ‑ Sindh Madressahtul Islam, also visited the Mazar and laid wreath at his grave.

On the occasion Radio Pakistan, PTV and other private TV channels broadcast and telecast programs highlighting the signifiance of the day as well as presenting programs on the life and achievements of great Quaid.

The newspapers also published special articles on the life, ideas and achievements of the Father of the Nation.

Host of organizations organised seminars and symposia to mark the birth anniversary of Quaid-i-Azam.

The law enforcing agencies had made elaborate security arrangements to maintain law and order on the occasion and keep watch on mischivious elements.
